Having only recently returned to saltwater fishing, and desiring to find all the "hotspots" in the West End without actually spending years learning the bays, I took it upon myself to do an exhaustive study of the last four years of fishing reports posted on West End Anglers forum. By doing this study, I can now be assured that I will catch fish every time I go out because I will always be in a "hotspot" or "secret hole" or "gettin' place".
I restricted my research to Upper Chocolate Bay, Lower Chocolate Bay, West Bay, and the San Luis Pass area. In this 4 year period, there were a total of 748 reports. Each fishing report was scientifically examined to pinpoint the location where the fish were caught. Exact locations of each report were precisely determined based on the following factors:
1. Examination of photos for landmarks
2. Historical tidal, weather, and wind data to determine specific locations based on water conditions in photos
3. Differing biological aspects of the fish in the photos as related to specific areas of the bays
4. Member's geographical characteristics, fishing habits, and favorite angling methods
5. Expected fishing patterns based on characteristics of member's boats
6. Inferences obtained by reading between the lines of the reports
7. Direct posting of locations in the reports
At first, I was only doing this study for myself. But with all the recent controversy on the forum concerning locations of fishing spots, and with the reluctance of sharing hotspots with newbies, I feel I owe it to the fishing world to publish the results so we can put an end to the bickering once and for all. I apologize if this information offends anyone on this site, but after all, it was YOU who provided the data on a PUBLIC forum.

Blue Xs indicate areas with only a single report.
Red Xs indicate areas with multiple reports - and can be considered as "hotspots".
