sharks beach front

Got into some sharks about 300 yards off beach front around down close to San Luis pass. Through a cast net to catch bait fish that was everywhere. I was hoping for some big trout or reds but the sharks were fun to catch. One was about 5'. Anybody catching reds beach front? How far out?
