Dad and I headed out to Bayou Cook and limited out on Redfish (10) and trout (50) Yes, all the reds were under 20 inches (yeah, you are jealous aren't you?), and all the trout were over 13, but under 19.
I cleaned fish for almost 4 hours. But there was beer involved. It's nice to have a designated driver.
Dad didn't fish much, but I was more than happy to fill his limit for him as he rested back at the camp in Grand Bayou. Bayou Cook won't be there for more than a couple more years, but today it PROVIDED once again. Have you ever been too tired to reel in another fish? I got there today, and it's a great feeling seeing a trout take your Speculizer under and you just say, "Nah, I'll wait for another one." Hope I get to do it again before heading back to can't find the fish land.
It was nice to have Dad out again. He hadn't seen the bayou in 2 years. - Sandy

I would say it's just nature and change, but nature isn't doing it. The ineptitude of the Corps of Engineers is the cause, and the thousands of pipeline canals that were cut over the years exacerbated the problem. My family has been on Bayou Cook for 98 years, but if I ever have children they'll never even get to see it. It'll just be open water.
