Stayed at several of the different chains along canal street, they're all fine. Is suggest not staying near the convention center, not a fan of that walk back.

What's your hotel budget? Makes a big difference down there.

      IN the French Quarter:

      Best Western Bourbon *
      Holiday Inn **
      Dauphine Orleans **
      Prince Conti Hotel ***
      Bourbon Orleans ****
      Royal Sonesta ****
      Hotel Monteleone *****

      Not far away
      Windsor Court Hotel ******

None of these are bad. Even 1 star that I gave the Best Western is a respectable rating. High price will usually reflect my high ratings. Yes, I did indeed give 6 out of 5 stars to the Windsor Court, but it is VERY high end. Best value is the Prince Conti in my opinion. If you get a room on Bourbon or a side street and you want any sleep, ask for an interior or court yard room. (Royal Sonesta court yard rooms are AWESOME.) I'm a cheap arse with most things, but now and then I have splurged. Oh, it's so nice to splurge on a great hotel room.

In my truck...looking at a Jax Beer sign and 20 bums asking me for money!

Good post as I plan on visiting there in September!

I used to live over there, and we would always stay a Dauphine Orleans. It's great, and you can crawl back to your room early in the morning. Just watch out for the street washing trucks!

Gilbert-Call Tom Bodett-I think he left the light on for you out in Kenner by Airline Highway-tell them Jimmy Swaggert recommended the place and ask about the "entertainment".

I like this location by Lee Circle, not too far from the quarter and on the trolly line to go uptown.

and if your driving the entrance to I-10 West is right by there.
