shark wadeing question

never noticed this before but i was wadeing the other day and noticed that smell of a shark, u know that smell never seen one or even noticed bait getting chased. it only lingered for a couple of minutes, then was gone. has anyone ever smelt them when they could see them. usually when i see them i dont notice a smell. just curious.

Not smell them but I'm 6'5"and am able to see alil more than most standing on the third sand bar and have seen gray suited fellers that would make you wish you were on the beach.They do run from you b/c Im still here.

Not I and I don't want to smell one either, too close for me.

We caught a small one, got bit off a few times, saw a big 6'+, & had a buddy fight off a big one that got his stringer.

I thought I smelled something similar to that shark odor but assumed it rubbed off on the boat after releasing the small one

I had one spread my knees one of the last times I waded San Luis, but I don't remember smelling anything. Sounds like it would be a good skill though.

Maybe that smell is the poop stain in your wading shorts! Seriously, I've never smelled one, but have had a sixth sense about them a couple of times. You just start getting that feeling without a sign...then "WHAM"...there they are!

I've been around sharks and caught sharks wading, and never noticed a "shark smell".

I have smelled that on a couple occassions. I noticed that each time there were dolphins feeding very close by. I am wondering if maybe the shark get spooked and release their urine as they retreat. Just an observation.

Only think I smell when I unzip a shark to clean it is an ammonia-like stink of pee.

If that happened to me Id check my pants for where that smell was coming from!!LOL!!
