  • It's new to me.

Leaving at daylight to work someplace new. Daughter Chanel and I are exploring in the morning. I have a plan, I have looked at google map, looked at Hook and Line map, know where to launch, know when and where to get bait, know how to fish, know the boat, just don't know the water. Going to be sure to be safe but I won't ever learn without going to new places. South shore, I'll throw tops and Chicken Boys and Chanel will free and poppin cork shrimp. Hope it all comes together and we find fish. Even if we don't it will still be a great time together I'm sure.

Yeah, with this bull tide it's a great time to check out the SLP area and NOT get stuck.

Up and out the door early this AM. I took my Texas Lacy with me to get bait, Remington loves the early morning bait runs. Get to the shack, turn the truck off and go inside. Parking lot is full, 20+ vehicles running, coming and going, alot of noise, must be a good morning I am feeling. The guy in front of me in line is buying fie quars shimp so I know the jetties are going to be busy. Anyhow, I go back to the truck and when I start it, the starter buzzes at me, the darn thing is still running. Turned key off and on several times and it is still running. Drive home and turn off and on several times but it still runs. Then out of nowhere it dies. Starts fine and turns off fine several times with no problem. Hit the south shoreline of Bastrop early, dirty water and shifting winds. Head back to a wind correct drain and picked up 6 18" reds, 1 big black drum, one bid sheephead, several big croaker and a legal trout (that I enjoyed as a fish sandwich for lunch) along with a couple other rats. Chanel wanted reds so thats what we went after. Wish we could have boated some slots but just didn't happen today. Bad start turned good. Headed back out after a nap, I hope the truck starts, and shuts off this time.

Never figured out what was going on with my truck and now I have trailer light issues. Guess I know what I'll be doing after work this week.
