I see several huts/cabins which look abandoned on the East side of 2004 bridge. Does anyone have any info on what the protocal process is in aquiring one of them?

I would like to know as well. A friend of mine has one and they have to pay a permit fee to the state every year.

I know a little about it. I think the program is pretty cool but lots of pressure to end it over the years. Anyone ever gets a chance to buy on and wants a partner, I'm in. I've tried myself but haven't been able to seal the deal. I will keep trying.

Texas land Com. issues permits for those cabins and i think the only one that's actually abandon is the old game warden shack but I'm not sure you can see it from the bridge. the rest i do believe all have permitted owners. you can always call the TLC with the PC permit number if it looks abandon they can tell you if it is or not. I know there are a cpl for sale or were but they usually go quick

also they may have lots of permit sites but if no solid pylons are on those sites already then good luck i don't think they hand them out anymore. and i think there is a waiting list for the ones that get permits pulled for what ever reason.

We used to have the 1st one on the left going out, that is up on land ....

It became a hassle, as people would break in to them every year and trash them ....

No power, no water, and you have to haul everything out there

A partner is a must, as it's just to hard by yourself

The RV thing is the way to go - Trust ME! .... you can have AC / move it when you need, and the cost is much cheaper.

I know most of the guys who have cabins... the guys who have the 3 cabin on the island near the wind mill are out there a bunch ... one guy goes out there for over a month, only coming in to pick up people at the ramp, who have gas, ice and supplies ....

One of my favorite things out there at night, when the wind lays, you can here bait getting busted on the water, and it's peacful ...

I grew up with a place in Louisiana that I lost in '97 to Hurricane Danny. I came here and found a new place in '07. Ike was a terrible experience, but there is NOTHING like having a place out here on the bayou. With a LOT of help from friends here on FWE, the place is whole again and I wouldn't trade my time here for time anywhere else in the world . . . . well, maybe for some time in Anegada.

If you can get in on a deal with someone, then DO IT! There's nothing like it. Sorry Mudskipper, but it beats an RV at Lutes to death IMO. I see the practicality in your argument, but in real practice it's just not the same.

RV i think is cheaper and more practical but Experience wise nothing beats a fish camp.
