  • Need a report, SLP access

Just trying to put the yak in. Would like to drive all the way to the right ,to the water, galveston side, of SLP. Have not been this year. No 4x4 here. Is it best to drive under the bridge, or the the right of bridge, then cut to the right? Soft sand? Will be trying to put in before daylight. Thanks for any info.

I have no useful info on that side of the bridge, but if you cross it and put in at the County Park, it's a good place to launch.

As of 2 weeks ago, you could drive back there no problem with a 2 wheel vehicle of any style....as long as you're not a complete idiot. Just get off on the South side of the bridge, drive parallel with the bridge till you reach the last place you can go under the bridge...maybe crossover #3(you'll see what I mean when you get there). Go under, and follow the trails to the corner and put in. All the rain we've had has got the sand pretty well packed...avoid standing water, the holes might be deeper than you think!

But just letting you know...don't go to my spot....there could be consequences!

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I can make it.

FOF--Not sure where your spot is. If I start catchin' in that area I'll leave. (hehehe)

Yeah was wondering about the access down there. Last year the sand was so soft it was brutal. I'm planning on making a trip down there for a wade this weekend.

Of the three trips I make last year, had to pull (offered to pull) two stuck cars. Hoping its packed, the sand that is.
