Joe Kent mention 2 of our Members!!
Robert and Derek (DN17 and RSN), Offshore Experts, that nail Swordfish, Grouper and Tilefish were mentioned in Today's GDN. Although not named, it certainly was them Joe was referring to. Robert and Derek caught a 223# Sword last week-WTG and what a fish!

"A note was received from an angler in Jamaica Beach asking about swordfish in the Gulf. A neighbor landed a huge one about 95 miles out last weekend and he was curious if this was a rarity.
The area where the neighbor was fishing, close to 100 miles out of Galveston, offers a variety of fish not normally found closer in. The ocean bottom drops off quickly at that point and reaches depths of several thousand feet. Just about any deepwater fish can be found in that region and include various species of marlin, wahoo, tuna, swordfish, whales, large sharks and others.
Most trips that distance are overnight runs in larger fishing boats. Still, it is a different experience and one many anglers enjoy."
