Mother's Day Catfish

Went to my Mom and Dad's Sunday to wish my Mom a Happy Mother's Day. They have a pond that's about 1/2 acre. My Dad stocked it with catfish about 5 years ago, and he feeds them every day, which makes them difficult to catch. I brought some Berkly Powerbait Catfish Bait and as my Dad was feeding them, I threw it out there on a hook with no weight. It worked great. We hauled in 3 nice size catfish and 1 very large sunfish.


My boat is in the shop getting new u-joints, bellows, gimbal bearing, etc..., so it was nice to get to fish this weekend.


Next weekend I've got a trip planned with Aqua Pimp. I can hardly wait!

He's got an unusual fear of catfish (I think a great white whiskered monster sunk his pirogue back in da swamp) and has some kind of magic flip thing to get em off without touching them. I'm sure he'll pipe up sooner or later..

.....nice cats! If it rains tomorrow I might head down to Paul and mine's Mom's and see what I can get to bite. Good tip on how to catch them when they are feeding by the way.


It always amazes me to see them feeding on the surface. I might have to take a video to show ya'll how you can see all the big bumps on the surface headed towards you when you drive the Kubota back there. Not sure if they hear ir or are just used to the vibrations the tractor produces but they sure know how to show up in the right place!

Yep. When my Dad drives his four wheeler up to the pond, the catfish come runnin'(I mean swimming). It is a sight to see.
