Thank you everybody!! Yep out of a kayak
I am sure this is the first one that a kayaker has won. Man it was fun!!!
Thomas was participating vicariously via lots of texts and phone calls. I couldnt call him until I had weighed in, I am sure he was dying to hear something. He made the agonizing hour and a half wait with me once I had weighed in.
My first polygraph too, that was interesting.
The weather was horrible in the morning as many of you probably know. I sat in my truck at the launch from 5:45 to almost 7:30 waiting out the lightning and watching it on the radar on my phone. I launched when the worst of it was gone and still got soaked but as long as the lightning was done it was all cool.
Had the first fish within 20 minutes. She went 27.5 and almost 8 1/2 on the boga. Not a bad start, lol. Then I spent about 2 hours looking for #2. They were biting and I had several small ones and strung a 25.5 but the big ones didnt really turn on until the water had come up a bit more. I'd been seeing some big blow ups on the other side of the lake so I paddled over there and spent awhile casting around. It paid off with a 27 7/8 9 pounder! I finally decided that I had to get off the water at about 11 because I was thinking all the "what ifs" about fish dying on the stringer, flat tires on the way in, etc. So I made the slow paddle in hauling those fish and making sure I didnt stress them too much. I put them in my livewell and I stopped about 3 times on the drive back to check on my babies, lol.
It was a tough fishing day for lots of the teams what with the weather and all.
