  • Recommendations for Surf Fishing

    Hey Guys,
Just bought a place on the west end and have never fished galveston before.
Plan on fishing the surf alot when the weather cooperates.
Any suggestions on good locations to fish the surf. Will be using artificials.
Have a boat as well, but want to go out with a couple guides and learn the lay of the land
a little before i take my boat out.

    Thanks

    Welome...

Just jump in the surf at daylight and give it a shot. As soon as the conditions get right I will be down there a lot. I will shoot you a PM when I head down someday.

Just wait for the reports to start coming in and then you know its time.
    KEEP IT WET..

Pick yourself up a good popping cork and some skrimps and you can hardly lose. Surf is just starting to turn on!

Thanks guys. I fish the surf alot in Matagorda and have general areas and landmarks that i go to, looking for bait along the way.
Ie. places with deep first guts incase the fish are in the first gut, areas with a little shell, etc.
My house is in pirates beach and i did not know if people fish that area or further west, or if it really even matters.
I saw some guys hammering them at the end of the seawall a couple weeks ago.

          Gulfcoast 13,
thanks and i appreciate it. I plan on being down there a bunch when the surf is right.
what's the best surf cam to keep an eye on?

I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!

I just PM Bruce for up to date feed. AKA Curmudgeon.

We nailed em right off the seawall last year. Be careful of the rocks, damn things are sharp.

It's not the rocks, it's the ****in' barnacles!
G-townsurf has the best wavecam set up on the island. You can also use http://www.swellinfo.com/surf-foreca...ton-texas.html for wave forecast and http://www.windfinder.com/forecast/g...beach&wf_cmp=7 for wind. There used to be a great weather station on the Pleasure Pier, but it's been shut down since Fertitta bought it. I hope they hook it back up soon.

By the way, the surf is icecream right now!
Looks like the pattern is starting to settlie into the working man's nightmare: flat during the week and hacked on the weekends! LOL!
