  • WTH Happened to customer service!!!

So I call up uhh.. ____count tire (name changed so as not to slander) and said I need 2 tires for my mom's car -- I'll pay for them on the phone and all I want her to have to do is show up and have them put on. (She's 75 and I don't want her to have to worry about this type of stuff) Then I say -- Put them on the front -- the back ones are fairly new and besides I'd rather her have a blowout on the back than the front..

"Sorry sir that's not the way we do things"

    Me: "excuse me"

"If you only purchase 2 tires we have to put them on the back."

me: "I'm the one paying and that's not where I want them -- If I bought them and had you throw them in my trunk would you do that?"

    "Yes"

me: "But you won't put them on the front of my mothers car?"

    "that's not our policy"

me: " you mean to tell me you'd rather me walk away and not buy these tires -- do you think that's smart business?"

    "Yes"

me: "Have a nice f'ing day - it'll be a cold day in h3ll before I buy anything from you again"
    Shut up and FISH!!

I'm telling y'all. Common sense may never have been common, but it should be put on the endangered list these days. I'd have asked to speak to a manager and recount the ridiculous conversation I just had with the previous person who MUST HAVE been a trainee.

          Mike,

Take a breath ...........he was right. If the rear tires have less tread and the car is in the early stages of a hydroplane, the *** end can easily swing around and make the situation real bad for the driver. I believe this is a new theory and policy. Somebody must have sued a tire shop and won a lot of money. They probably feel losing a few thousand customers across the nation a month is better than losing millions in a lawsuit. We just recently started discussing this around the dealership I work at.

I should add that our shop foreman quized me about only adding two tires to a car and I thought the front as well.

Right or not -- I'm the customer -- have me sign a waiver if you're scared of a lawsuit-- to refuse service is, in my opinion, bad business.

I'm sick and tired of all the politically correct, lawsuit shy, CYA crap that we have to deal with now -- there's no need for everything to be so complicated that it makes your head hurt..

I just need 2 tires.. how complicated is that?

"Yes sir we have tires but we cant sell any of them because somebody may get hurt with one"

It's not necessarily that. Corporations are supposed to make money. That way they pay employees, award dividends to investors, etc. That's how our economy works. Think about it. This way, the corporations actually make less money. It's litigious scum bags, the judges with an agenda or no common sense, and the lawyers they hire.

They are right. I appreciate folks who will not do something just because a customer "asks" for it. That is the best customer service because they are looking out for you.

New tires on the front would have resulted in your mom spinning out and potentially severly injured.

Discount tire will always have my business.

If the back tires are still good, that is not true. These poeple are idiots, plain and simple.

It's actually pretty simple logic. New tires=better traction. If newer tires are on the front, it will handle sharper turns the worn down tires can not.

You are right that it may be ok at first, but when the tires do wear down, you will still have tires on the front with better traction.

I am not trying to be an *** or smart ***, the reason for my replies is to help avoid a life threatening situation.
