No problem, I talked with some game wardens in the marine division and they said if anyone threw a dangerous wake, simply write down the TX numbers and better yet, take a picture like on your cell phone. They can't help you much with "tanker wakes" from big ships or big barges but them little boats, they will follow up on wake violators and the TPWD and Coasties are interested in repeat offenders who need to be seriously slapped by the law. Hehe, report the numbers to both organizations for good measure. It really messes with these potlickers bad.
A dangerous wake is one that cause you, your crew, your boat, or your property to have a problem, and it says so in the Texas Water Safety Code. In this case, it knocked your rod into the water and that's never any good unless you tear off the covers and clean the reel; you were lucky to even find and retrieve the sumbuck.
We know you're a nice guy and "hey, it's OK." But it's not OK. If the LEOs were right there, the turkey would be written up with a big fat fine and told to straighten up or they'd be arrested for a jailable offense. Don't yell at them, shoot them (dear Lord please), or threaten to whup them, let the laws do the footwork for ya. Marine VHF is nice and you can get a small unit cheap these days, handheld - I don't think the i-phone has an app for it yet!
Be careful out there. It ain't even Memorial Day yet and the yahoos are going crazy already. Don't put up with that rudeness. Man, we got punks aiming at baby dolphins down here and they killed one and wounded two already, they're such jerks. Take a picture. Get on Channel 16 marine VHF. Make a phone call and TPWD has several 1-800 numbers to report poachers and dangerous yahoos. Sorry to write a fricken book but I'm getting tired of them yahoos, too!
