  • Solunar calendar?

My dad and I have been arguing over weather or not the solunar calendar has any effect on the fish or not in saltwater. I say no and I have plenty of evidence but he swears by it.

I think it has a lot more to do with when tides change as to when the fish get active and the tides change at all different times depending on which bay you are fishing.

    What are some your thoughts?

Moon effects tides and wind does play a factor.

It has some effect, but I fish either way.

They predict them in advance without knowing the Wind, Weather, Barometric pressure, salinity or clarity. I believe there is something to the solunar tables, but not everything...

If you fish enough to understand the solunar tables, you probably have enough experience that you don't need the solunar tables?!

Me?, I fish when I can and make do with the conditions that I encounter.

I believe that tidal movement is a big part of feeding, and that the right tide and a full moon say at night will trigger feeding, that translates to slower fishing the next morning, if fish feed all night! Sorta like deer go nocturnel and get scarce in the the daytime!! A friend told me to watch the cattle,if they're up feeding fish should be too! it makes some sense to me!!

Go buy a Casio Fishing Time watch-it gives Solunar Tables, Sunrise and Sunset and even has a light.

Yes, solunar tables play a large part in when all animals feed. Iuse mine for huinting and fishing and of course variables affect feeding times, but they do correlate with best times to fish or hunt.

You are spending to much time arguing over BS go fishing it is good for the soul... You may find the only table you really need is the dinning room table to eat the fish...

I couldnt agree more! You can wait for weeks for your favorite conditions or you can get out there and find a way to make it work! I make notes of what the conditions are so they help me get a jumpstart for next time, but I never let it take away from time on the water.

I agree with going when you can that had been my whole argument with my dad. If I have time to get on the water I will be there.

He would rather wait for the ideal times to go and miss some of my best times to fish. Tide switches, I love fishing the switch.
