Was out off bolivar in pasture lake when weather came in yesterday. Tried to get to stingaree before it hit but when i made it to channel there were 6 ft breakers. Between hale wind rain and rough seas and lightning my 17' bay stealth barely made it. When i turned into the marina the metal was blowing off the boat sheds. Dodged a few nice bolts of lightning as well. My son inlaw is an air traffic controller. When we first saw the front he had just started catching nice reds. He assured me that the radar reports had the front passing north of us. His face became the grim face of death as we fought our way back in. So much for his guidance. I learned my lesson on this one.

My advice is to beach your craft on shore and take your chances in the floor of your boat,Cold and wet beats hell outta swimmin for your life in 60 ft of water,no bottom on any boat is worth possibly lost at sea, I keep rain gear on board for two people and a 12x16 blue tarp w/ rope to secure it over the cc llike a tent. all this said,You and I both know hindsight is 20-20 best just dont wait when you see a squal coming, up anchor, and putt'er on the trailer. Also West Marine as well as many others carry those things we should have for emergencys,You can choose what you wanna have on your boat& a cell phone w/good battery too.Lastly I am not preaching,Your talking with voice of my own experiances,Ive been out there thinkin I could square up with ma nature, when I found out otherwise! She dont care about us! Stay safe Brother,Glad you made it unharmed!................Whatever dosnt kill you makes you smarter!!West Bay Sensai...

Glad everything turned out okay for you guys. On the way to Galveston this morning I noticed two large billboards broken off and on the ground/water and several more with their signs blown through.
I was in stand still traffic on an elevated ramp yesterday when it came though and the rain coming over the sides of the ramp looked like smoke and thought my vehicle may be overturned at any moment !
That was a nasty storm cell !"Many men go fishing all of their lives without knowing that it is not fish they are after" ~ Henry David Thoreau
