  • Shuffle your feet!!!!!

There I was this morning in an undisclosed south shoreline cove -- minding my own business, wading along -- when my right foot bumped into a ray about 2 feet across the back. I know how big he was because as soon as I touched him he shot up my leg and out of the water revealing himself in his haste to get away. Scared the shite out of both of us!! My heart didnt slow down for 10 minutes. Yes I had on guards and it still scared the h3ll out of me -- even more so because I was by myself.

Please be careful --- ray guards, (the strap on kind) are only about 25 bucks. Don't go in without em!! especially if you're alone.

Ps.. Note from Coachlaw -- dont leave the dock without a hardhead flipper thing-a-ma-bob either... They're dirt cheap and from what I hear, work quite well. -- Ask Sandy if you want more info..
    Shut up and FISH!!

Yeah, those of us who have seen the smiley face know what it means.

I use flippers on sting rays too, but only when I have them top down on the bow of the boat with an icechest on top of them.

Here they are. Never touch another hardhead, or oysterfish, or stargazer, or any other undesirable fish. It's coonarse engineering at its finest. And only $2! Free lessons at my dock in Titlum-Tatlum. It's really quite foolproof.

We had a few Ray's on the beach back in Fla, but not like ya'll are talkin about.
Are they that thick here? I told my wife about the "Sting Ray Shuffle" before, but
now she does not want to go wade with me at all. We bought some waddin boots
at Academy but looks like we're goin back for some guards...

Yes they are ridiculously thick at times. I've seen them almost stacked on top of each other in the spring.

and yes guys I already washed my pants so the evidence is gone.

First off, I'm glad your ok, it's not a pretty sight when someone gets hit..

Ok then, is this true in the surf, or mostly in the back bay's & coves ? I don't
usually get into them much unless i'm on a boat, one never knows what might
