I went gigging for some flounder Saturday night. Reached my location well before the sun went down and was enjoying the sunset. I started walking before it was completely dark and was swarmed by thousands of 1/4" long
fish that I think were newly hatched Glass Minnows. They were attracted to my lantern. It was about 20 minutes before total darkness and suddenly the trout started a vicious attack 30 feet away from were I was standing.
The feeding lasted I would say for 40 minutes. Several times you could hear 5 or 6 hits going at the same time.
I've never seen this before, but have heard stories that this is a normal Spring time event.
I struck out on the flounder. Only thing I saw were 3 stingrays.
If I were to try and go for the trout...what would be the best lure to throw?
I would guess something small like a tandem speck jig in white.
TIA
