Snuck out of the office a little early with my fishin bud for a luttle end of the week R n R. Water was kind of murky on channel side... tide was going out at a pretty good clip. not a bunch of action, did manage a pair of 19" drum. Moved to gulf side down towards end and had a hour + battle with this brute, 42" jack crevalle. what a fight he put up. stuck him on live mullet, bout an 8 "er. While i was fightin fish my buddy landed another drum and some sheeps. i am thinkin it is a little early for the crevalle to be showing up at the jettys. All in all it was a awesome day, personal best fish was stoked all afternoon.

Was out there today we picked up 15 smacks (as many got away, they wouldn't bite on steel leaders so we sacrificed a lot of hooks) and 6 nice drum.

Jhua I am pretty sure Jacks are fair game...I don't think many people keep them. They are super fun to catch but I have heard not much for eating. The people I have heard that do keep them bleed them out....I guess that makes the meat worth eating.

Nice catch, those jacks put up a good fight.
Go for it Jonathan, they are not game fish and have no size or bag limits. I have kept one for shark bait before. I'm sure they would go fine in the soup. Pretty hard fish to target though, I run into them a few times a year while chasing other species. If I come across one do you want me to catch it for ya'll? I am about done throwing trout gear at them, been there, done that, not too excited about the time and effort it takes on light gear.
