Destin and Choctawhatchee Bay

We will be taking our family vacation to Destin in June and I am planning on doing some fishing in the bay while I am there.
have any of you ever fished there? I am thinking that I can rent a yak or find some wade in areas.

If its Destin Fl, the surf fishing is outstanding from what I have learned on the net.
Check out the site "Extreme Coast.com" and the forum section on beach front fishing.
They actually had some pictures of Jew fish that looked to weigh around 300lbs landed right off the beach and it was not an isolated incident. Big sharks are also the norm.

It looks like almost everyone there uses live or gulps. I am planning to throw tops and show them how to catch fish on arties! If I get desperate, I mau chunk a gulp or 2 also.

only info i can give is around jacksonville from a last minute road trip we took there last year (last minute as we were sitting in galveston drinking, someone said they had a brother in the navy in jacksonville, and we left that night), but thats far from destin... we ended up just driving around exploring and looking for spots that looked like it would hold fish, ended up doing really good and found some nice remote spots where we didnt see a soul for the 3 days we were there..
