  • Big trout vs. numbers

With the freezer in good shape with flounder and trout and the weather and tides looking good the next few days, I think I'll put my soft plastics away and target a big trout with some top water baits. I know it's ridiculous to some but I'm one of those that likes the challenge of only taking a few baits and colors as opposed to dragging 3 tackle boxes and only using two lures out of forty while wading. To each his own. Been catching some decent numbers on pearl/fire tail Kelly shrimp tails lately along with my red/cool tip major minnows (Hogies). Might have to figure out my only corky if the tops don't work out. All those damn treble hooks, how could I miss?

good idea! try some spooks or broken back bombers.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

That sounds good. I need to get some time on the water myself.

I don't have a lot of choices in tops, Chris. Thinking about my old scarred up bone jumping minnow I got tweeked my way. other choice would be olive green back/gold/white belly spook. Your thoughts?

That is about the only way I can stick to the big fish plan, just take one plan with you.
I think that a lot of fish have been tricked by the Bone Jumpin Minnow, but take the corky and give it some play.
                      Good Luck!

All of our big fish over the weekend came on tops. The smaller fish came on Corkys. Our big fish Saturday was just under 6 lbs and came on a black Spook. Yesterday all the fish over 4 lbs came on She Dogs except for one and I think it was on a Corky. That bone Jump'n Minnow would be a good choice...
