  • Jhua's Lunchtime Sight Casting- 03/05/12 Report (Part 1)

There may be a part two

I just finished my O-Chem midterm and proceeded to go into work. Boss told me to go get lunch before I come in so... I go fishing. Made a quick 20 minute stop at a small drain (it's a different one that I haven't fished in a while). I walked out onto the bank and surveyed the water. The water was sandy clear and water levels were low, but quickly coming in. At the drain itself, I was pleasantly surprised to find two fish sitting behind a rock in 1 foot of water, apparently waiting for an unfortunate meal to float past. One was a nice slot red and the other looked to be an equally impressive trout. They were behind the same rock but facing different directions. Decision time! Which one should I choose since if I hook one, the other would be spooked. Decision made! It's obviously the trout since...well...I haven't caught a trout in over 3-4 weeks. Since the water was gin clear, and a little sandy, I decided to use the bone/chartreuse TTF TK. It looked great in the water and it blended in just right and had a little white "flash" if I rolled it just right. Execution time! There was a slight current so I put on the 1/16th oz jighead and tossed it upstream of the trout. Perfect! The bait lazily drifted down current and came around the rock....BAM! Trout sees it and pounces on it! White water is flying everywhere, there is a huge dust cloud, the red darts off and my drag screams as the trout takes off out to the deeper area. The trout came up shook its head...and there goes my TK flying out of the mouth. Disappointment!

I proceeded to blind cast the drain, hoping that the fish weren't all spooked. I hooked up with another trout and I brought him up to the bank and was in the process of wetting my hands to grab it when the trout got off as well. Now, i'm at work and my heart is thumping just thinking about that fish. Gahhhhhh.

Cool Report JHUA-WTG even if they got away!!
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary.
