im gonna replace all the hooks on the ones i go also i am devising a secret method to make them work better.

I do not have any relation to maniacs, but would love one, they are pricey. I was not a believer when they came out and considered it a corky devil knock off. I started fishing them in November and would argue how well they work. They are great for drift fishing . I have caught over a hundred trout on them, many over 5 lbs. not good for wading though. I have caught fish on them when they would not bite a corky. I will not only throw these but I will always pull it out and try it at every spot.
The slow sinker I just started fishing and first trip caught one over 5 lbs and works great in 2-3 foot water.
Fish always want something different but this bait works and I think spring is going to be great.

What is everyones problem with these lures? Ive never heard so many negative remarks about a particular lure in my life! Reminds me why i dont visit this site much! Maniac mullets are great for big trout, they weed out the little ones and i do believe theyre worth $7.20 each. If i post up pics of fish ive caught on them ill probably get reamed and dubbed a payed poster that gets free lures for posting pics of fish with lures in their mouth. Grow up! I swear online forums bring out the school kids in lots of people. Keep chunking whatever lure you want, no one is forcing anything on anyone but everyones negativity is forced on all who read it! I thought i could visiit west end anglers and get useful information but all i get right away is crappy posts accusing a texas based company of knocking off corky devils and charging too much. Look who won $20 grand at the big trout tournament with maniac mullets! I suppose they were paid by tidal surge as well!?! Im out!Comment

No drunk smack posting!lol.Listen most of the criticism was constructive some was harsh.Non of it was anti TEXAN!I have no problem telling folks face to face some of there stuff like hooks could be room for improvement like when i was talking to Chris with Strike Pro.He said if they put better hooks on them it would raise the cost about 50cents.That doesn't matter to me.I would still change the hooks out one way our the other.Originally posted by Flatsbottom View Post

I think Captian Herbert has a damm good product in the bait it hold up to hits and the bait is made well.
I think as time goes on he will improve the product.
These forums can and will help other people get a idea to use this or other product to the way they fish.
smak if you post up pics over here you won't get reamed here on FWE.The reamers will have a short shelf life on FWE.

Well said Chris. It is a great product. Can it be improved upon? -- yes. If I were in the lure making business I'd want to see threads with criticism in them -- that's how you grow and improve as a company. No matter what, there's always a few in the crowd that are looking for opportunities to ruffle feathers but even they are entitled to their opinion, however close minded and irrelevant it may be -- but that's just my opinion.

Ok here is the list of stuff that needs fixing
1 the slow sinkers need to be slower by about 33 % because as they are now it os about 5% slower than the fast
2. The hook is way to small and needs to be bigger in proportion to the lure
3. It needs another hook
Other than that I'm Gunna kill fish in the surf this summer with one. If you read the posts again, nobody really had any problems with the lure. They just stated their experiences with it. This is a public fishing forum and people's experiences vary (obviously). If they work for you, that's great and I hope they continue to do so. I used it drifting in a bayou back in November and had my limit by 9:3oam. Went back the next day and did not get a bite. I switched to a gulp and caught my limit @ 2pm. I think its a good lure the more options you have the betterComment
