  • The Crab Trap Saga Continues..

Finally got out today after crappy weather and schedule conflicts kept me at the dock all weekend. The kids and I picked up 22 traps from the diversionary and Jones lake. Several of them had been previously gnarled by propellors. Gave my poor boat and myself a bath and now I'm gonna lounge on the couch till time to go to the gym. Y'all go get some traps if you can. There's more out there for sure.

But drop the traps at the designated drop off points (like Fat Boys or the Chocolate 2004 ramp)

If you just smash 'em, you can throw them in a dumpster anywhere if those designated spots are not convenient for you. I throw the ones I find in the dumpsters at the old KOA. My yearly haul is usually only about 4-5. Mike is a crab trap killin' machine!

Who came into the Sea Isle channel about 2:45 yesterday with some traps on what looked to be a Carolina Skiff.

Silly question - how do you find them? When your not looking there are everywhere but when you look they are no where to be found?

My kids have crab trap eagle eyes!

Honestly I go out hoping I won't find any at all and they just keep popping up everywhere. I'm with coachlaw, I just don't understand how the crabbers can just leave 40 dollar traps just sitting there to rot. I understand the ones that wash up in the marsh during high tides but most of the ones I find are right where they were set.
