I am going to be buying a new one pretty soon as well. I have always used motorguide but may switch to minnkota.
My biggest issue with MG is the corrosion issues, they are a rust bucket after about 6 months. The MK does have a couple of little features on the adjustments that are better than MG. The MG has 109# of thrust on the 36 volt where the MK is 101#, I don't think that will make that much difference especially if you have a light boat.

I have decided on Minn Kota, going with basic 70# as I don't need all the bells and whistles for the fish'n I do. Did also get a Talon ($1225 with shipping & extended warranty, hard to pass up). Best prices was at Xtreme Navigation.

Minnkota: long warranty, flexible shaft. Get the the variable speed model and don't skimp on the power.
