Car Title Question

I have a totaled Honda in the driveway at my shop. I want to give it to my helper so he can get some parts and have it towed away. I've never had to get rid of a wreck before, and there is no information at DMV or county tax website about totaled vehicles.
Do I just sign the "assignment of title" and let him have it towed away?

There might be an issue with it being totaled and the possibility of him trying to make it road worthy through the eyes of the state and/or insurance companies. Consider maybe letting him have his parts and scrapping out the vehicle for a few hundred dollars with a receipt from the scrap dealer to cover you on the disposition of the vehicle. I'm sure you don't sound like you care what he does with the car but you want to keep your name clear of any future troubles or liabilities relating to that vehicle. CYA.

The 98 Honda was wrecked and can't be fixed. We just carried liability insurance on it. He already swaped out some of the tires and just was any scrap $$. The title has a place to inform the state of a transfer of title, but a receipt from the junk yard is a good idea.

I'm far from a legal expert but wouldn't want you to suffer from trying to do a good charitable thing.

Kenny: Ike took my 94 Bronco and it was underwater and ended up in ditch. I signed over title to salvage. That's all you have to do.
