I posted this in 2coolfishing forum also...eventually you will get a bite.
Heading to the SLP area this weekend with the family and a friend with his family. Kids are looking forward to fishing, as am I. I haven't fished this early in the year in a while.
I saw a report of catching some fish in surf, and some reports from boaters fishing the drop-offs. I have access to a flat bottom down there (it would be tough to comfortably fish 2 adults and 2 kids, I would most likely bring my waders to free up some space.)
In my shoes (novice,) would you just set the kids up on the beach to catch some whiting (or whatever bites,) find a pier, or take the boat to find a drop off (spot I'm thinking of has a nice shallow shell/mud bottom next to a channel?)
Looks like there will be a NE wind, I'm thinking surf for Whiting.
