Boat Show must see, while you are there
I did my walk through on the 1st night at the show and had a few highlights that you should check out if you make it to the show this week.
Hot new fishing rod company
Tour Star – This Company was created by one of the original owners on All Star fishing rods, Bob Brown.
They wanted the same rod actions that were lost when All Star became owned by Shakespeare.
Made on IM-10 rod blanks, and in all the popular lengths and actions, they look well put together.
What sets them apart is their grip. They have done away with the cork, and feature a synthetic rubber rip that feels like you’re at the driving range. The grips are made by Winn Grip, come in different colors, and are interchangeable. The new grips get stickers the wetter they get, and when they wear out you can get a new set.
The warranties on the rods are going the way that we see G-Loomis rods are doing it. Manufacture defects are exchanged out but if it is deemed that the rod breakage is from something other than a defect, there is a fee for a replacement. I like these rods and see a fit in our market. They are big enough to stay around, and fit a mid-market price range. I believe they will be around for a while.
Next must see, are the folks over at The Third Stone Corp, selling the “The Fisherman Analyst”. It’s a fishing program that shows tides, peak feeding times, and allows you to log your catch. You can pattern the fish with the tides and wind, to put you on the fish and reduce your scouting time. Get Capt. Robert King to show you the program. They also are the only ones selling the Tony c-clips at the show. These are a must for Corky fishing and were designed to fish with the popular Corky’s. So gear up for the winter, and get you a pack.
If you looking for the must buy at the show, go find the Boomerang Fishing booth out of Florida. They have some pliers they are a must buy. These pliers cut braid, are made of anodized aluminum and are at a fraction of the cost of what else is on the market. They also sell a sun screen buff that cut down on your sun burn for another break in cost of what you see. If you fish offshore you will be pleased to see their trolling lure selection.
If you are into art pieces, an artist worth meeting named Greg Dennis has a booth with some great wall hangers. “Saltwater Fish Works” has fiberglass fish mounts that look like they just got pulled from the water. His metal art work jumps of the wall and with Greg being local out of Katy, I encourage you to look at his work.
Last, I hit up the Stone & Sons Marine both and slipped my name & phone number in the drawing for the Shimano fishing reel. You have to ask to be entered so make sure you go by there.
