I had to get some stuff done around the house early this morning and then I headed out to the lake. I got to Ponderosa at 9am and was in the water by 920. I started out the day trolling with black/red/chart and black/white/chart. in 12 to 14 feet about a foot off the bottom.

I caught a few here and there with them all being on the small side so I decided to switch up the colors and that did it. I went to gold flake/white and green/chart. I was having to bump the brush with the jigs when trolling for the fish to strike so I was having to straiten out a lot of hooks today.

About 30 min before I called it a day I got a nice thump and set the hook and it started digging down and then peeled a little drag so I thought I had me the state record. I was not fighting like a white bass or LMB it felt like a crappie. Didn't take me long to be dissappointed it was about a 2 1/2-3ft spotted gar on a green/chart. jig.

I'm heading out there tomorrow before sun up so I can get in the water before the crowd shows up.
