I don't want to sound like a terd but there's nothing you can do about it. I've tried to say that and I guess everyone thought they could bully the system and make 'em stop, getting on TV and all. You just can't win against these guv'mint folks - and I've tried in past to sue the GLO of running seismics in the Lower Laguna Madre and the Corps pumping pure mud onto our county beach at Isla Blanca. We even brought in 3 high-dollar lawyers from Austin. It just don't work. I know I ain't gonna win no popularity contest sayin' that, but I could have saved you some wasted time.

In a way this is a bit strange - the entire Intra-Coastal is being dredged to 12 feet deep from the Sabine clean on down to Port Isabel down south. You're the only group to get feisty about it. I guess that means you want to protect some real good fishing, but the plan covers a few hundred miles of tugboat-barge channel that is worth hundreds of millions just to the petrochemical industry. I wish I could be more positive about it, but I'd pick my fights a little better next time.

Maybe we cant stop it. But we might lay the ground wotk for future dedging or damage to our bay system. I geuss if we all would have paid attention we might have been able to get a jump on it. I mean Ive been watching them dredge for a year now from Gorda to Galveston and never crossed my mind the would do something so stupid. Guess Im the stupid one for not paying attention. Also we will see how well the shoreline recovers. Nature never quits so lets keep our hopes up!! I aint giving up!!

I really didn't mean to make anybody hot. As Corndog said, this has been coming for a long, long time. I think in the future we need an agreement between the Corps, GLO, TCEQ, TPWD, and all concerned parties about how to conduct maintenance dredging if it is ever needed again. That's the time to get excited!

And don't never give up, brother. Let's check out if the Corps is right saying they're doing the best job by squirting the spoils against the embankment and not damaging the grass as much (probably not). Well ... we had a deal down here where the muck was put on a barge, dewatered (some brownwater), and sent out to sea to get dumped. That might work better in them sensitive places. What I'm saying is ... the job wasn't bid that way right now and it won't happen. -sam

We need to pressure all entities involved to change the designated spoils areas before it's dredged again.

Why don't they take the spoils to the mouth of greens and close it down similar to Karankawa and slow down the erosion to greens marsh? I guess they make you turn in your common sense when you get a govt job.
