Althougth I'm more interested in tidal movement than anything, I've heard all my life that a falling barometer gets fish biting. I also heard birds flying as opposed to setting on a highline wire and cows grazing rather than laying down are positive signs as well. the almanac is another fable?

You are spending too much time looking at the barometric pressure.

Yup. If you look at most pressure data, it bumps about 29.8 to 30.1 and that's nothing. A change in the wind direction probably means more. For a real big storm, pressures will fall to like 27 or 28 inches of mercury. Trust me, you won't be fishing at times like that! Them Yanks up north pay a lot of attention to the barometer because they can get a cold front in August, and the pressures do go up and down more than around these parts.
