  • Wade, Paddle & Pole LIFA

This is an email from TOS. It's pretty much right on the money!

    Dear Mr. Morris,

In as much as the TPWD Coastal Fisheries Division may be considering the implementation of LIFA within certain portions of the RedfishBay State Scientific Area (or any other coastal region) - I would like to take this opportunity to state that I do not believe LIFA is necessary or useful as a resource management tool.

LIFA is a means through which a certain tiny yet vocal minority within the Texas saltwater angling community are seeking to restrict the activity and access of the greater majority of Texas anglers to secure a shallow water playground of their own. In short - the group known as Wade-Paddle-Pole are prostituting the true mission of coastal resource conservation and stewardship to advance their own selfish agenda.

Until it can be proven that LIFA yields measurable improvement to relative abundance of recreationally and commercially important species, the ecosystem in general, or any portion thereof (apart from seagrass), I believe it is a weak attempt at social engineering within the framework of resource management and therefore has no place on our coast.

    Your truly

Y'know, as this site's only liberal I feel like I have to comment. I don't mind conserving for my fellow man, but this is getting out of hand. The vast majority of the folks that are fishing are much better stewards of the water than those that aren't fishermen. We are also the people that are putting money for further stewardship into the coffers of our state government via our licensing fees. If the WPP people are that interested in LIFA, let them pay for it!

Chris, I'm on the same page with you. My point is that I think we're better at looking after things than they are! I understand what they want, but we don't want to live in a museum where we can't touch anything. We want to live in our home where we can relax and enjoy ourselves. I don't think the WPP people understand that. I don't know why.

LIFA is BS. WP&P is a bunch of self-serving folks trying to close areas so they are limited access and no props-well just go up some drains or back lakes with your dang pushpole, yak or whatever "propless" means of locomotion. Yep scarring is bad, but jeez, it is pretty limited to shallow flats and most boat operators respect that-even with closed areas, some jerkhead is going scream through it just because.

Instead of closure, perhaps simple COMMON SENSE and maybe some edumacation of some morons will suffice, not closures-this aint Calinutsoland or Florida where commercials rule (think Gulf Council). These WP&P idiots are why rights get taken away and similar line of thought as the complete morons at NFS and Gulf Council-bullchip-respect the grasses, don't ban us from fishing because of some self-serving propaganda bullcrap.

By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

Jerry's right! (OMG- Did I really just say that?) The problem with the WPP is that their agenda has no end.

See - Even extremists on both sides can agree!! Bruce likely aint voting for the POS Obama and his band of murderers -I know I would NEVER vote for Obama-I'd vote for the dead cat on the shoulder of the road before I'd vote for Obama. The dead cat can't steal my $ and give it away to some crack whore or baby making machine on welfare.

We live in an age of self-serving, self-righteous, busybodies! It's never enough that they get to do what they want. they want EVERYONE ELSE to do what they want.

Here's a reply I got today from Art Morris. I emailed back and asked, then what were the scoping meetings the 29th. in Webster & yesterday in San Antonio about?

                            Mr. Luce,

While it is true that we are researching the concept of a potential Low Impact Fishing Area (LIFA) internally for somewhere along the coast, we do not have a scoping item concerning a LIFA currently on the table. But appreciate your comments nonetheless.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
