Headed out about 6am. Just as I was puttin out of the marina finishing my coffee I realized I let those two tasty pastrami sandwiches on the counter. Checked the cooler and found an orange and two ganola power bars of some sort decided twas enough since the beer to water ratio was in porportion. Ended up in Christamnas Bay fised there till around 9:30am Not one nibble. Headed back across bastrop and the wind was howling.
I headed back to Chocolate Bay. When I was passing the geotubes I noticed a ton of birds!! Not a boat in site hehe. I set up a nice drift 3-4 dinks and a few sandies. Made a few more drift and same result. Snapped my rod tip unhooking a sandie. Dang it! Pulled out old faithful and some dumbarse runs right thru the birds to get to along flock that was working. Go figure. It was fun but decided to leave em be and headed to the east shorline to get out of the wind.
Drifted the east shoreline and caught a few more dinks. Man what it gonna take to box some trout.Picked up again and headed back towards 2004. On the way I decided to drift a few small reefs behind the cabins. By this time the wind started laying down and it was warming up. Pulled off the extra layers of clothing and started the drift. Sure enogh as soon as I found the scattered shell I found the fish. Boxed three nice reds and caught another seven slot fish that where released.I missed two decent trout along the way.Spit the hook via early release.
All fish were caught on Norton sand eel pearl and yellow tail and plum/chartuese bass asassin 1/4oz jighead. Most were hitting on the drop or when it came off bottom. Very slow retrieve. Some were caught on just a straight retrieve no jigging required.
The weather turned out to be really nice. Their was hardly anybody on the water and overall I great day!!
I'll be heading out in the morning with Sneaky and Reeltime. You guys enjoy your turkey and your inlaws. I need some more therapy!!
