Today i caught my 2 flounder for the day as well as my limit of reds. However the catch of the day for me was definitely catching my skank of a now EX-girlfriend cheating on me. went to her house early from having to do some errands because i forgot some things only to find her with some punk @$$ B!%(# half clothed and making out on her couch. After a quick @$$ beating to him and grabbing some things i cared about (while breaking some things she cared about), i left raging mad and went home
Ive been sober for almost a year now and if there was one thing thats ever made me want to break down and go get completely $#!% faced it was that. Instead, i went fishing which has been my safety net for not slipping up. At least God was good to me there today. so now the the report part...
Grabbed my kayak, waders, and rod and got out to cold pass around 1:30. yakked out to a flat along the bank a couple hundred yards from the giant pier out there. there were some guys in a boat posted up where i was hoping to be against the pier so i thought i would try here instead since i was seeing bait moving around.
Got out in about waist deep water about 25 or 30yds from the bank and started throwing a pumpkin seed tube that i stuffed with a little bit of shrimp to try and scent it a little. on my second throw i hook into a rat red. few throws later i hook into a 22 inch red. after another 10 throws or so i get another not that starts to peel line. get him in and he is another keeper at 24. next throw i get a soft hit that felt like a flounder. set the hook and it felt like a little flounder. turned out to be another dink red. saw some bait scatter pretty hard right against bank so i throw over there. 3rd throw i hook into another red. he measured in at 20.5 with the tail pinched.
Decided i would move somewhere else since i didnt get any flounder (what i was actually going for). i was expecting them to be near the banks nice and shallow. went back to the yak and before getting in, i decide to make one throw towards the middle of the channel just for kicks. worked it very slowly with little twitches and then i felt that bump and taunt line that says a flounder grabbed hit it. gave it a moment and set the hook. nice and fat 19 inch flattie. decided to make some more throws and caught several smaller flounder and missed quite a few bite. after a while the bite dies down and i switch to a red and white grub. hooked up on won more small one before deciding to move.
Yakked over the other side across from the pier and got out in waist deep water. I figured the flounder would be deeper over here too. started moving around and and throwing in the middle. the bites were still few and far between. Got a few soft bites that felt like flounder and i kept missing them (i didnt have much patience today). Ended up hooking into a huge flattie that i got all the way up to me and was trying to net when, POP! He spit the hook
Im pretty i used every possible combination of swear words at that fish. i decided to throw the tube back on and after a while ended up hooking into a 14 inch flattie and decided to throw him back and was rewarded with a 17 incher on the next cast. continued to make some throws and miss a lot of bites while working my way back to the kayak and then heading in for the day.
I honestly dont know whether to call it a terrible day or an alright day. Wasnt planning on fishing today but at least that part of my day turned out great. I guess God knows when we really need a break from the crap. Should have known that B!%(# was trouble from the moment she told me she didnt like fish or fishing. oh well, on to bigger and better things. I dont need a woman keeping me down anyways.
