Uber- try soaking your bearings in alcohol for about 30 minutes. Let them dry out and put one drop of oil and your distance should go up. Stock shimano bearings are actually really good.

Word. That makes a lot of sense. Gonna try it tonight. The first day I picked up both of my 50e's they threw like beasts and over subsequent trips they kept throwing worse and worse despite me cleaning them after every 1-2 trips. I usually just follow the shimano youtube video guide on cleaning them.

        Thanks.
I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. Call me tuna Joe!

when you can beat 5.4 oz for a reel that is legit let me know. to the person that said something about H20, go buy 10 of them they are that cheap for a reason, but they cast far. Those gaftops are a drag tester fo sho. that H20 might be stripped after 3 8 lb'ers.

The revo on sale for $99 is the revo s left hand. Regular 129.99. It has 9 bearings vs my curados 5 and it puts out 24 lb of drag!! Thats more drag than my avet lx.

Abu isn't really Abu anymore either most aren't made in Sweden where they were originally made. I use the shimano citicas and have no problems and I have used the Abus with no problem also I don't think their quality has dropped much if any on either company. I was with drifter when he first fished this weekend with his new curado and it seems to be just as good as the old ones and has a much smaller frame than before.

you better maintain that revo really good if you fish saltwater. Its a good reel but sucks for being saltwater worthy. Go to mikes reel repair and order some Abec 7 SS bearings and you will cast further than you ever need. He has them for all reels. $25 for 10 bearings. You don't need ceramics.

My Zebco spincast is cheap, lasts forever and my red/white bobber looks good with it!!

Yep-shimano sucks now-they keep changing them and seems to be for the worst-I have several 200b Curados-have the original silver chronarch and then gold, then silverish and then green, then funky silver 2 years ago (the one until changed now) and curados d & E versions-the B Versions of Curado are by far the best-least maintenance and holds up better than any other reels. I have the Revo also-it casts like crap in general-but it is darn lite and smooth, but lacks distance.
"Hey Hillary, regarding the Benghazi Attack on 9/11-we'll just blame it on that movie, not my total lack of security. By the way, what's so significant about 9/11 anyway-was that a date my buddy Bill Ayers of the Weather Underground blew up a government building?" asked Obama to Hillary. BEAUTIFY AMERICA, RUN OVER A LIBERAL, THEN BACK UP AND SEE IF HE'S DEAD.

think about this, you can slow down your retrieve with a 6.4:1 or a 7:1 but you can't speed up with a 5:1. Just cause its cold fishing doesn't mean you have to slow it down to a crawl. I fish with Core's and they are all 6.4:1.
