I use Suffix 832 on my spinning reels. I use the 20 pound test version, has the diameter of 4#. I don't have any curados but I regularly fish two Calcuttas. I had power pro on one and fins on the other. I find that light, small diameter line tough to handle in windy conditions working baits, particularly top waters. I constantly get the line around my rod tip. I went back to mono on both reels. Im using h2o 10# mono with a 20 # fluorocarbon leader on both. I'm pleased. I find the stiffness and stretch of the mono easier to work. Your mileage may vary.
Interestingly, I really like the braid on the spinners. Probably overthinking it.Last edited by Jerkyourcroaker; November 19, 2011, 07:00 PM."Shut up and jerk your croaker" - James Fox

I like to hear lots of strategies. I'll use as small of braided line like PowerPro about maybe 17# just fat enough to prevent a wind knot ... the 8# is way too skinny. Then I'll tie on about 3.5 foot of 20# mono or fluorocarbon leader. I tie a Red Philips Knot which is the best Uni ever for tying skinny braid to fat leaders. That knot has to be outside the tip of my rod when casting even though it is so small. After tying on a few more lures and cutting it back only about 1.5 foot of leader is left. What can I say, I just don't like any knots inside my rod tip unless I'm offshore fishing for big game - and that's rare as chicken's teeth these days!

I dunno, some of the guys are going back to good old mono because its more sporty, less problems with abrasion, and there are some very cool super-lines such as Momoi Diamond, Suffix Promix, Ande Premium, and others. There are hybrid mono-braid lines like Berkeley Uni-Filament (no idea if this is worth a squat) or fluorocarbon that is limber and actually has some stretch to it. It turns out that us old pfarts are the ones hanging onto the braid thing like PowerPro because there are so many better lines now.
There again, I don't care as long as I can be on the water and drink a col' beer so who cares? I do want to try to roll on a reel full of that new fluorocarbon line though sometime soon. Might jack up my fish to beer ratio, never now.

quater spool of pline fluro coated mono, tied to suffix regualr braid 30lb/8lb mono equiv. with a 20lb fluro leader, that does not need to be 5', 1-2' is just fine. you wont break off on anymore fish for hte most part, and back lashes will be minimal unless you just suck. and you can feel everything. Fins is also good too.

FINS windtamer sucks. I bought a roll at FTU to try out this weekend and I lost 5 lures cause the crap would just snap mid cast. I'm never leaving PowerPro. Try the new Super 8 Slick PowerPro. There is no breaking in like the original one. Its a killer line. 10/40 is more that what anyone would need on a low pro baitcaster.
