Years ago a friend wanted me to introduce him to lure fishing so we put in Chocolate at the 2004 bridge and ran out toward the ICW and started drifting long reef. The first fish I caught was a flounder and quickly boxed the fish paying more attention to my friends presentation of his lure than the fish. After a half day of drifting the area and a good box of keeper trout, reds, and flounder and him wanting to use my rod, etc., he insisted we stop at Hall's Bait camp as he had ran out of beer and wanted to boast the catch. After unloading and displaying the fish I noticed the flounder at the bottom of the chest was white on both sides with a small brown area arond the head. The crowd naturally had to see this and no one including myself or my dad(who commercially fished out of Freeport all of my childhood) had not seen this either. I have never seen this again and think the photo is still on the wall at the beer joint.

The fish was probably around 15". Back then I think 12" was legal. Dicussion was take it to a&m Galveston all the way to fish getting too close to chemical plants up the bayou. I'm sure Felix fried him up with the rest of the catch. Looking back I might have done something different having never had my hands on one since.
