  • Bad times in New Orleans

This just hit my funny bone. All you hear about NOLA is the bad stuff to do with crime. Well, in the little area I grew up in, things are different. Here is the Crime Report for Harahan, La. for Nov. 15-16. It was so extensive that it had to be published.

We moved into my parents current house in 1981. Nobody ever had a key to the door. When my parents bugged out for Katrina, one of the problems that surfaced was that they couldn't lock the front door. All those years and we never locked a door, never even had a key. Where can you find that today in America?
From 1970-1997, true heaven on Earth existed on the banks of Bayou Cook. "Hey Dad, Thanks for buying the Camp."

That's funny - we never had a key either, and had to hunt one down when we bugged out for Hurricane Dolly. Just never needed one down here, especially with a pit bull and two junkyard dogs and by buddies Mr. Smith & Wesson! The big action so far this year besides the accidents - somebody bumped some trash in a lot next to me, I called Code Enforcement, and the stupid nuts got caught because the UPS address on the boxes lead them to the perp's house! We make Mayberry RFD look like it's hectic.

Oh but plenty to talk about 17 miles away just over the Mexico Border, turns out a bunch of them drug lords vacation on our island. I always wondered about them big McMansions, ya know? We all got the shacks like in the poor parts of Surfside, lol.
