  • Power Pole vs Minn Kota Talon

Look at adding either a Power Pole or a Minn Kota Talon to my 2004 Model 2110 Nautic Bay boat. Does anyone have any feedback on either product? Appreciate any advice.

Definitely go with the power pole. Talon gets in the way since it is fixed above the boat and they are having lots of problems with them. Power Pole is the only way to go!

I have the 8' power pole on my boat. I have been very happy with it. No problems so far except when I left it down one time in Clear Lake and bent it up pretty good. I would definitely recommend getting the remote. I don't have one on my boat but will definitely add it later.

I love the power pole but I have an extremely cheap fix if you dont have the $$$ quite yet. It's about $30 + $10 for the attachment at academy. It's a green extendable pole up to 12' with "duck feet" the attachment on the bottom you can buy separate. It's in the fishing section by the nets and bait buckets. It works just fine for getting you out of the mud. I actually like it pretty well with the attachment if all you're looking for is getting your boat unstuck.

If you're looking to pole super long distances then yes what mr.hamma said would work great. Power pole's are pretty useful for chasing down those reds stealthily.

Appreciate all the feedback. Never thought about mud geeting up in the unit on the Talon. Seems alot less can go wrong with the Talon compared to the Power Pole with the hydraulic equipment. You can get the 8' Talon at www.extremenavigation.com for $1,115.95.

Give Bryan a call at Evans Marine, he installs them & may still have them on special.

Thinking about the 8' Talon. Reviews I've read were real positive. Will install myself.
