Well wanted to try something new so me and a buddy went down Sunday afternoon to seawolf park and tryed the peer. Let me tell you what a joke sure I saw a few reds landed two where 40 + inchs and guess what no tag placed on any of them. But having to deal with the combat style fishing was crazy. Reminded me of the russian river in alaska when the salmon are running. People almost fighting over the first thirty feet of the peer. Its a joke. Then if you don't have a surf rod with the right line hook and lead weight your not even allowed to fish on one section of the peer. There were specs busting mullet in that section but no one was fishing for them. Due to the rod restriction. Needless to say they can keep it I don't Want to ever step foot on that park again. Even if the red were so thick you could walk across them from one side of the channel to the other.

    fish behind the sub.
the fishing was good,it was the catching that was bad.

The flounder run should be starting soon. The flats behind the sub is a good spot or the flats around the pier. But if you trying to get away from the crowds...Seawolf is not the place to be. Good luck!

Yeah, that sucks, I am not a fan of pier fishing for that reason. Wade or get a kayak, the solitude alone is worth it, and you will probably catch better fish.

SWP is a crappy deal. All dirt roads on Pelican are closed off now, and I ain't paying the troll that much to fish the channel. There are plenty of free channel spots to catch all the sandtrout you would want.

When did they close the dirt roads?! We used to camp out on the beach all the time and catch trout, reds flounders and cook em on a fire. That is disappointing to hear

About 3 years ago. Seems like a lot of people still don't know. When they were in the process of closing them, I found a "secret" way in, and ended up with a forced donation of $450 to GPD...

I saw about 5 different trucks, personal trucks, on the end of Pelican Island, right by the Intracoastal on Saturday, maybe you can drive on there again...
