I rarely catch flounder (sometimes I rarely catch anything but a buzz), so I am very little help as to your question - the last time we nailed floundies was northeast of Big Pasture betwen it and the old Sun Oil Canal-of course at a point of a drain/opening.

good luck and hope winds cooperate.

It don't matter where you fish with grandpa. He's gonna catch all the fish anyhow-they always do!

fish the ICW markers. i only use flounder pounders, picked up 5 this morning. if you really want to learn about flounder fishing attend the bay area cca mtg oct 17 at marios on nasa rd1, phil ortiz will be the guest speaker. phils#1 rule fish shallow water next to deep water with some kind of structure. good spot the docks in front of a&m in galveston.

Good advice, but I look for fast water as well - the flounder don't seem to bite as good on slack tides. Fast water and pound the bottom, man!

I disagree, fast water on outgoing tide the flounder are moving during the run. we fish the end of the outgoing, slack and incoming when they stop to feed and yes pound the bottom, when they are feeding where are the flounder, on the bottom. if people are interested I can arrange for Phil (the Flounder Pounder(TM)) to do a presentation if you have a place to meet.

That's OK Lori, I fish down by by South Padre, darn near to Mexico, and maybe it's a little different down here. I'm no gigger and I tend to fish deeper water for them - we got names for most of our flounder holes. I've noticed what works at different corners of Texas sometimes ain't the same ...

ur right, can depend on the area and time of year. galveston bays i've caught 80% on slack or incom'n tide during the "run" and the run started just before labor day here.
