    Need good spot for camping/ surf fishing

    The woman has decreed that we need to get away. The plan is to find some sandy piece of heaven to camp out on Saturday, bust out the long rods and sit around and do nothing until Sunday morningish. Can anyone recomend a good spot to get away? I'll be in a 2wd F150 but I'll have my CO2 tank incase I need to drop tire pressure. We'll have our 3 dogs with us and while they're friendly and will be leashed it's always nice to not have to deal with a bunch of people. We'd like to stay within about 2 hours from home (Rosharon). We usually head to Surfside but I'm game to check out somewhere new. Any advice would be appreciated.

    Bluewater highway has what, 7 beach access roads? I'd pick access 6 and scout a good spot.

            I've always been partial to the beach on the Galveston side of San Luis Pass. Just a little east of the toll bridge where the beach starts to make a curve. Thats for fishing, for solitude I'd head as far west and south as practicle.

                The problem with that is the rules on the ferry. If you're camping out, you might have a generator. With a generator comes gasoline. They won't let you on the darn thing with gas cans. Ridiculous? Beyond ridiculous.

                  You're not supposed to tell them Sandy! LOL Take them empty and fill at gas station over there. If you go to the SLP...prepare to get stuck...unless your prepared to haul butt...do not slow down. Sand isn't bad once you get on the beach...but getting there is the problem. Sargent is pretty laid back this time of year, and meets your requirements of an hour!

                    gas cans have to be filled with water to cross the ferry, new or old cans it doesnt matter, its a bunch of bs
                    I dont always drink beer, but when i do , I prefer to be fishing !!!!!
