Yeah when you take your girlfriends brother. Not when you go out.Originally posted by ubermensch1324 View PostYou are the guy who told me to throw live bait at this spot stop trolling!
We are in our kayaks in channel under the small bridge throwing into lights at night and 25 feet of water. Arties do not work there @ night until the sun comes up - at least for us.

I misunderstood where you were talking about fishing. You mentioned a small bridge and I thought you meant the spot in the Seabrook Harbour with the small bridge that I posted a Google image of the other day.Originally posted by ubermensch1324 View PostThank you so much!! That helps tremendously never really thought of putting them on a cork.
FYI buoy37 - the current rips extremely hard under that bridge that even our yaks wouldn't anchor pretty much no matter what we did. Might have to go buy a new anchor tonight and figure out some new tactics. We fished the kemah side, not seabrook side of the bridge and had so much trouble getting our corks to stay put (do we need to move to other side?), we didn't even have to cast the current would just rip them if we dropped it straight down. Kinda scary was rockin our yaks back and forth pretty hard...this current coupled with the wind made it pretty impossible to throw artificial which is why we went to the popping cork so we could see what was going on and anchor upstream so the cork would sit in one spot.
Gonna try the gulp!
If your in the main channel with ripping tide, good luck.

So are you saying you would rather throw artificial if fish are acting finnicky and go home skunked than catch shrimp in a cast net and hook up on every cast? Not sure if serious. There's been a few times where fish won't hit artificial - especially in the lights at night. We tried throwing mirrodines, 3d glass minnow, doa's. Notta! I love to fish artificial as much as the next guy but if live bait's the ticket for that night I'm gonna throw it!Originally posted by FP10 View PostYeah when you take your girlfriends brother. Yeah we went last night as well. It was pretty awesome minus the fact that the current was ripping us to pieces in the yak. Gonna run to academy in a bit to buy a new anchor and throw some chain on it to see if it does the trick.Originally posted by buoy37 View PostYou must of went Saturday or Sunday?I set my hook like I am fishing for tuna even if I am fishing for trout. The bottom in that small channel i hard to anchor into. You may need to get a small pivoting boat anchor vs. the standard kayak anchor.
If the current is ripping, I would just try somewhere else. Water movement is good, but ripping water is no fun. There has been huge incoming and outgoing water volumes between Thursday until this past Monday. I think you got caught in the middle of a couple of them.

Yes I would rather use arties and catch fish than waste time catching bait and weeding through trash fish. Unless I am bringing the little one, but even she will only throw arties on her rod becuase she sees me doing it. As a matter of fact in the last 10 times I have taken her our we have only used live one time and even then it had to be on my backup rod becuase she wanted to be chunking. Maybe I can get her to teach you how to chunk lures and catch fish!Originally posted by ubermensch1324 View PostSo are you saying you would rather throw artificial if fish are acting finnicky and go home skunked than catch shrimp in a cast net and hook up on every cast?
