Let's see, the ATF gives cartels assault rifles in an effort to help control drug running. Isn't that like putting a thief in an unlocked bank with no guards and saying help yourself? I think the whole gummint is corrupt and absolutely run by complete morons that have zero common sense at all.

Guys, if you're a gun owner of ANY kind you need to look into this and get to ripping your elected representatives a new one about it.

The ATF is in a lot of hot water of Operation Fast & Furious, and I know a lot of upset people over that, including some possible foreknowledge on the part of Eric Holder (he might have lied). But that was because ... people were buying multiple units of assault rifles to send into Mexico! We should have stopped those guns because letting them slide into the hands of the drugs cartels!

Now some dude with a twenty dollar haircut says it's not right to have to report sales of two or more assault rifles, I guess railing against slavery, tyranny, bureaucracy, and violation of the Second Amendment. Y'all know full well you could simply go to separate stores or gun shows a few months apart and buy one at a time, like if you think you need 3 or 4 wild pig shooters or something.

In our local newspaper down here by the border there are stories almost every day about "straw man" purchases being busted - today's story was about a guy caught purchasing 23 assault rifles for the Gulf Cartel through three front-men. I think it is a good thing those four bad hombres are in jail.

Why isn't Wal-Mart complaining about this, if it is so bad? You have a right to buy all the guns you want at Wal-Mart, and there's just another report for a multiple purchases of certain kinds of guns. Wal-Mart even went as far as to say it was discontinuing sales of rifles that could be classified as assault weapons, such as those with magazines that can hold larger clips that can hold bullets in the .223 and larger bores. Maybe Wal-Mart doesn't want to be associated with provisioning illegal armies in Mexico?

If you are an NRA member and read up on the "Fast and Furious" debacle then you would know that the guns are being allowed to be sold to cartel bad guys with the wrong intentions and condoned by present Attorney General Holder, (An Obama Guy) with the intention of causing mayhem which can be used by the media and present administration to pass more gun control laws! Make no mistake, THEY WANT YOUR GUNS!

There would not be the USA had citizens not protected themselves from British law and revolted-the Libs seem to forget how this country was founded and are nothing but sheep standing around waiting to be sheared. Just like all other BS from libs-same as PETA crapola-"Cute Sea Kittens"-put a spin on it, sell it to morons, pass laws against it using fear and emotion-follow steps 1, 2 and 3-works everytime almost.

Failure by gummint-give criminals guns and drugs-then hope they kill each other and ignore the innocent lives lost, except to "play" those lost lives as reasons to instigate more gun laws; when in fact, the ATF supplied the GD guns in the first place-IMO, they are the same as the criminals they arrest for the most part. Maybe had the ATF not handed over the guns and instead enforced and monitored sales better, then many folks that are dead, would be alive today. If you gave a free home burglar set of tools to each burglar, do you think home burglaries would rise? Apparently the ATF didn't think crime/murder would increase by handing criminals/cartels guns. I call that just STUPID. Holder and the directors of F&F should be sent to prison.

Hey T you mentioned that most ATF agents - and I suspect most in military and police services - wholeheartedly support the Second Amendment. I do too! I think what got some people riled up was that (1) some low-level agents testified they were upset because they could have nailed "the big guy" but were told to "stand down," and (2) that some weapons did in fact show up in the some killings in Mexico such as ICE agents and diplomats. Ruh-roh.

And I agree that it's not all about the Mexico drug cartels, although you should now that any guns are illegal in Mexico unless you have a hunting permit or are in the official armed services. You can't buy them there. So the cartels look to buying shipments from (A) the US because it is close and has very liberal gun rights laws, and (B) outside sources such as weapons from the Bulgarian/Eastern European underground market. Not much we can do about the stuff coming from overseas unless our Coast Guard intercepts them somehow. All we can try to really do is shut down the southbound flow of weapons and cash back into Mexico.

I hope Robalo doesn't get mad at me, and I am no big Obama fan in the least - he "peaces me off" a lot. But here I have to wonder about needing to buy more than one of those expensive honeys at once.

Agree Sammy-the laws are to report the folks likely ghost buying for illegal activities-just enforce the GD existing law-don't give cartels guns and then later tout how bad stuff is-do your Job ATF-not inflame more violence by handing out guns-get the ghost buyers. I don't need to buy 5 semis/sporters at once-if someone does, they should have a good reason and should expect to be asked "WTF ya need those for all at once?"

Sorry guys but I must say, "If you give an inch they'll take a mile". We as law abiding citizens of the USA and By God Texas should be able to purchase all the guns we want without bein hassled by the danged government! Freakin period.

Only the law abiding citizens will abide by the law. The criminal and lawless will do what they want as long as the enforces of the law let them/until they are caught. I personally prefere shotguns, blows a bigger hole. But I may want to buy 5000 assault weapons due to they are not going to be manufactured anymore and I want to invest in them to sell later, you know like stocks, beenie babies. My rifles are all tack drivers cause I reload and take the time to tune them up. But I have PVC pipe and a shovel so if the guns are taken away I will have to become one of the lawless, I will have to dig a hole and lay some pipe.
