Howdy all,
My son heads back to school next Monday to start 1st grade and I've been wanting to do a father son trip all summer so I guess this weekend is it. A night run is out this close to school as it'll throw off his routine too much so looking at the calendar I'm thinking Saturday morning hitting Christmas bay and fishing the outgoing tide. We'll be in our canoe and I've never been to Christmas bay but I've just been told by many people that it's the fishinist place around. I plan to drop in on the south side at one of the places on my kayak map. Where should we head too? Just motor around and look for action or is there a good place or places to post up that time of day/ tide? My son's not too big into fishing but I honestly think that's mostly to do with our lack of catching. I'm bored with standing on land and hoping hungry fish happen by too. He's only caught a few fish but he remembers each one and I could care less if he catches hardheads or tarpon I just want him to hear his drag sing and hang out with dad. Any advice would be appreciated.
Also he tends to get a bit bored with soaking bait so I was hoping for advice on lures that are good for a little fella to toss around. I was thinking maybe a spoon or a rattle trap something he can just toss out and reel back, but once again I'd appreciate any input that can make our trip more successful.
Thanks a bunch
Travis
