You and your familiy will be in our prayers. We've been through quite a alot through the years, having fostered homeless strays and abused dogs. Each one touched our hearts. Although it's been tough when we lose them (and we accept that the day will always come), it's still hard.

But, we enjoy them (and they us, from what I perceive) for that short time.

I'm sure you'll keep fond memories of her alive in your heart, for a long time. And that you'll pass along your affection to whatever four legged mutt that adopts you in future.

I remember posting it and afterwards thinking man I'm gonna get flames. It's helped me so much hearing your stories and comments and that you've been in the same situation...thanks Kenny, fp10 and Jhua my boys, reefdrifter, reeltime and JT. Gonna take some time but I'll be alright.

On a brighter note fp you're gonna have to show me how to do red on a half shell, ours didn't come out the greatest! You and Jhua give me a call! Need to buy a new phone still

man im sorry ubermensch..that hurts and it sucks. when my old dog needed to be put down, i made 4 trips to the vet and circled around and came back home before i could do it on the 5th trip.... ive been in a 4 hour car trip w/ a dog that died w/ me and my Mother and had to endure that; and i know she looked at that dog like a child.

Thats why i dont care to own another dog and never will.

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss. I'm damn near crying as I type this myself. Loss of a beloved dog IS like losing a family member.

  • Worst day ever - lost a loved one (dog lovers read)

Hey fellas. If any of you have ever lost a loved one or a close friend than you can count me in, I'm officially in the club. At 24 I really haven't experienced anything quite like this before so this post is more so to vent and also to just warn people of one of the biggest problems your little buddies can have.

When I was 19 I had purchased a Welsh Corgi who had the biggest ears ever. Me and my girlfriend lived with her and had a great time until I had to leave her with my parents because I had to go off to college. She loved to play ball, eat lots of snacks and lay with us at night. She eventually became my mom's dog because my mom took care of her a lot and the dog wouldn't leave her sight. It was loyal, loving and I couldn't have asked for a better dog.

Last night at 3am it started coughing up a lot. Sounded like it had been choking on something. It was just staring at us like "help me, help me..." and so I banged on my mom's door to wake her up. After banging for over 20 minutes she finally came out and decided that we should let nature run it's course and see if it doesn't get better.

10 minutes...then an hour and nothing. The vet was going to be charging double or more at 3 am and that amount of money was something we didn't have but we took it anyways.

That car ride would be the worst of my entire life as I see my buddy and great friend looking at me trying to get me to help her. We were about 1-2 minutes from the vet which was a 30 minute drive and she made one lunge to get to my mom to die there...but I held her back not knowing any better, I had no idea what was coming to me.

She took one look into my eyes...set her head on my lap. God I'm crying as I'm typing right now but she just set her head in my lap and died.

We pulled up to the vet and their door was locked while my dead dog with her tongue out lied on the concrete. This is the worst feeling ever. After a minute or so they opened up and came out and told us that she was "expired."

She died of a turned stomach - it's the second leading cause of death in all dogs behind cancer and happens to mostly bigger dogs - but heavier dogs as well with barrel chests.

I feel like I've let my mom down as she's been crying for the whole day. I've been doing the same and she's a complete mess. I feel so much regret for feeling so helpless, I tried to give CPR to the dog in the car before she took her last breath but it was too late.

Here's some pictures below. My other dog has been sitting at the door waiting for her and won't eat and I keep trying to tell her that our buddy is in a better place. I feel so much pain, regret, you name it.

She deserves her own thread. Hope you guys learn from my mistakes. Click image for larger version

My dog charity has been sitting at the front door waiting and it's really hard with her not understanding that our buddy is gone.
Working...
