I respectfully 100% disagree with you.

When we were fishing Brenton, we were staying on the Islander. It was basically a 140' house boat with 25 guests. Out of 25 guests there were only about 6 or 7 of us they really could put a whipp'n on the Trout. Thats a lot of fish in the picture but if there are 10 to 15 people fishing thats not much fish.

It does look like overkill, but who knows. Besides, I eat a ton of fish. Much more than I ever catch!

As long nothing catastrophic happens, the Louisiana fishery will remain alive and vibrant.

Keep in mind that the guides can keep fish for you as well. My first trip to Calcasieu was insane. The wife, our guide and I caught over 120 fish before 2:00pm. We only brought home the legal Calcasieu limits which is 15 specks per person and a few redfish mixed in. We threw the rest back.

We had one hell of a family fish fry.

Yep-been there and done same-my only issue is 12" trout-to me that is a joke to keep. On some of my old Breton trips (stayed on the Islander), we found Big and Little Gozier islands to be incredible-most trout were in 3+ # category-mainly all on tops and just slayed them-I understand Little Gozier is now gone-no sign of it except like 4-6' below surface. Plus throwing at some of the old platforms and sunken shrimpers was killer. I preferred taking the Islanders owner's boat with Johnny Rodriquez-he'd stay til dark 40 while other guides mainly came from Venice and they didn't want to run in the dark all the way back, so their day would end early. We also hauled our boats or had buddy that kept his old 23' Mako in Hopedale-only problem with hauling boats was it took forever to get to Venice and driving all night was heck. The float planes outta Belle Chase made it easy with Johnny as your guide.

Fished Breton about a month and a half before Katrina and pretty much had the same results. We smoked'em for 4 days on bone Super Spook jrs and chrome/blue she Dogs. Those were the only two baits I threw for 4 days. It was awesome
