For a nice night out, Reef is great. Lucio's is great and BYOB. For really nice night out, try DiMarco, but bring your wallet. Hugo's is great traditional Mexican (not tex mex) and El Real was great for Tex Mex, the one time I was there.

For Seafood, my fave's in Houston are Danton's and Goode Company. The Campechana at Goode Co is better than what I can get in the Yucatan.

Well Jonathan, you gonna suggest a better dim sum place?Ocean Palace sucks! :P As for favorite place to eat, Trulocks at the Galleria. Darned expensive, but great seafood.
Anyone who buys seafood is a poor fisherman!

Here are a lot of choices. http://www.urbanspoon.com/c/8/Houston-restaurants.html
Rice Village has a bunch of good ones too. http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/8/739/Ho...-U-restaurants
I like any Mandola's or Patranella's
BTW the Reef is very good!
Sandy,
I always like the Alpine, Arnaud's, Mandina's, Manale's, Deanie's, Mulate's, Maspero's,Tyler's, Franky & Johnny's, St. Charles Inn, etc.Last edited by kenny; June 22, 2011, 05:04 AM.

I don't have any favorites in Houston. All the best restaurants I've ever been to are in New Orleans. Well, there was this one Indian restaurant in London, but that's it. People just can't cook as good anywhere else but home.

Anyone tried here? Thought about it a few times but never made the commitment to drive in for it.

Flemings, or Taste of Texas for steaks.
Chef Chans in the Woodlands....orange peel cheekin and some kind of shrimp dish is all we ever get.
PF CHangs...always a hit!
Chilis....I know, but I do love that applewood bacon burger with jalapenos and their fries are pretty good too!
As far as seafood...don't have a clue...eaten at alot of places, and Papadeuxs maybe...really none that are all that. Although I did have a pretty good mahi mahi dish at Matts in League City the other day, and then a chicken fried rib eye about a month ago there did not suck either.

I have been to that place a long time ago. I believe it is still open. Maybe I am wrong. Sartin's in beaumont.

Fogo is good stuff. Favorite restaurant would have to be some dim sum place, probably Ocean Palace.
