Here are a lot of choices. http://www.urbanspoon.com/c/8/Houston-restaurants.html
Rice Village has a bunch of good ones too. http://www.urbanspoon.com/n/8/739/Ho...-U-restaurants
    I like any Mandola's or Patranella's
BTW the Reef is very good!

    Sandy,
    I always like the Alpine, Arnaud's, Mandina's, Manale's, Deanie's, Mulate's, Maspero's,Tyler's, Franky & Johnny's, St. Charles Inn, etc.

Ocean Palace sucks! :P As for favorite place to eat, Trulocks at the Galleria. Darned expensive, but great seafood.
Well Jonathan, you gonna suggest a better dim sum place?

Anyone who buys seafood is a poor fisherman!

For Seafood, my fave's in Houston are Danton's and Goode Company. The Campechana at Goode Co is better than what I can get in the Yucatan.

For a nice night out, Reef is great. Lucio's is great and BYOB. For really nice night out, try DiMarco, but bring your wallet. Hugo's is great traditional Mexican (not tex mex) and El Real was great for Tex Mex, the one time I was there.

I've been on a "Hoogie Ranch" trip here lately. Good food, all kinds of crazy stuff to look at and the owner and staff are super nice. Located in Kemah, it is close to me.

Not that much different than a Karankawa indian hunting the shallows at night with a torch and a spear.

                      My favorites are:

Black Lab (Montrose) - Pub fare
Nelore Churasscaria (Montrose) - Better and way cheaper then Fogo de Chao
McCormick and Schmick (Post Oak - Galleria) seafood, good business lunch menu
Lupe Tortillas (Shepherd) first laid eyes on the wife here when it was "Dickheads"
Thanh Noi Sandwich (Bellaire, near Corporate) vietnamese mystery meat sandwiches - been going here for over ten years
Lai Lai Dumpling House (Bellaire, near Corporate) vietnamese - best dumplings in town
Taste of Texas for huge steaks.

only thing i tried at the reef was a dish with collard greens and cracklins served w/ fried grouper. it was delicious. i started garnishing my greens with fried trout. they also have a fried mac and cheese that's good. worth a visit for sure.

They have a very cozy oyster bar. I recommend them, too.
