  • New site sponsor. Vanguard Utilities!

Hi guys I am proud to be the newest site sponsor here at fish west end!!!

I want to address what Vanguard Utilities is:

Vanguard Utilities is an energy brokerage company that leverages volume discounts with energy companies and has them bid for our customers via the lowest rate of the day. This means that Vanguard Utilities does the shopping around for you to get you the lowest electricity rate we can find.

I have been working with houston gun forum as well and average customer savings so far is around 18%.

To get a quote from me just click the banner in my sig line or PM me. Include your zip code and specify residential or commercial.

I will put up some frequently asked questions too.

    Are you a provider?
No, Vanguard Utilities is a managing energy broker. Vanguard Utilities is like a Travelocity for energy.

    Do I have a contract?
It depends, If you chose a flex rate or indexed plan chances are you are not under contract. Most fixed rate energy plans roll into these after the contract term without warning so if it has been over a year chances are also good that you are not under contract.

Do you have a web site?
Yes we do: www.vanguardutilities.com it is just a placeholder for now so feel free to email me at the address in my signature line.

    Will my service be different?
No, Energy companies are basically billing companies. The actual company that delivers energy in the Houston area is Center Point. This won't change with a change in providers. The only thing that will change is the company that billing you each month and your rate.

If a hurricane hits won't Center Point's customers be the first to get electricity back?
No, You are and always will be a Center Point customer if you live in the Houston area. The service charges on your electric bill pays for them.

Ok guys I did my best to explain this. If there are any more questions post em up here!! I will be more than happy to answer them. I am very happy to be a sponsor of Fish West End!

                            Captain...
What other fees may be involved such as is there a over usage charge?

Fees include a monthly fee and depending on the chosen provider, the fee may be wavied bassed oppon usage. These range from 8 bucks or so up to 15. Usually the threshold to be eligable for a waived monthly fee is 1000 kwh.

Asside from that there are the taxes you recieve every month.

There are no over usage fees you simply get charged for your usage. Commerical customers who use LOTS of energy can actually qualify for a further discount. This also depends on the provider chosen.

Commerical is also different than residential, quotes for residential service include the company that maintains the grid like Center Point. Commerical quotes just include the electricity cost and typically get a charge between 3-4 cents extra per kwh for the grid maintaince. This is why commerical quotes start so low in comparison to residential.

This is how the whole industry works not just my providers. Any other questions are more than welcome!!
